Outdoor Riding

If you are like me, you have been cooped up in the basement watching bad tv while doing your bike rides on the trainer all winter long!

Well today I couldn't take watching The View any longer and hit the road. I encourage you all to get out when you can. It was the best workout I have had in a while and it really kicked my rear.

Here are some of the benefits I see in hitting the road vs. trainer...

1. You get out doors!! Studies have shown that those athletes that train outside are stronger emotionally and more often feel empowered than those that workout indoors.

2. You are able to get a better interval workout and really push it on real hills and difficult terrain than on a harder gear indoors. As a result I am stronger rider when I can finally get outdoors.

3. Your more apt to do longer rides when you can get outside and scout a path and follow it vs. setting a time limit and hope you don't get bored and quit early.

4. Outdoor riding allows you to use more aspects of your bike so you are more comfortable shifting gears, turning corners, and just overall handling of it.

5. When you ride outdoors you can gather your friends to do it and its a lot more fun than sitting home alone watching more horrible TV.

6. My final reason for riding outside vs inside, is that riding outside allows you to truly appreciate the beauty around you. Call it corny but my issues and problems seem so minor when I look out at those beautiful Rocky Mountains.

So what are you waiting for??? Get out and Ride!!!
